The BSAA Scholarship provides $1,500 a year for books and other academic supplies for a college-bound BHS senior. This is a need-based scholarship. The award is presented at the annual Brighton High School awards ceremony in early June 2011. The recipient and his or her parents are the BSAA's guest at the annual BSAA/BHS Alumni Hall of Fame recognition dinner. Contributions to the BSAA Scholarship Fund are fully tax-deductible. Applications open for 2011 BSAA Scholarship - don't delay! Brighton High School (Rochester, NY) students and families: Applications are now open for the 2011 BSAA Scholarship. The deadline to apply is March 4, 2011. The BSAA Scholarship is an award of $1,500 to use to purchase college textbooks or other required academic materials. The award will be renewed for three additional years, as long as the recipient remains in school on a full-time basis.
To be eligible for the BSAA Scholarship, the applicant must be a college-bound graduating senior at Brighton High School (BHS) in Rochester, NY, with a grade-point average of at least 3.0. This is a need-based award. The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student at a two- or four-year accredited educational institution. The applicant must agree to use the fund for textbooks and required academic materials only. Funds must be used within the school year and cannot be carried over to the following year. The application must be accompanied by the FAFSA and an essay of no more than 250 words, on “What aspect of your Brighton High School experience (academic, extracurricular or community service) has had the most impact in shaping your future direction and why?” Five finalists will be selected from the applicants by a panel that includes two BSAA Scholarship Committee members, two BHS faculty members, and one student. Finalists will be notified in April, and interviews will take place at the high school shortly thereafter.
