Reunions past:
BHS '71 35th mini-reunion!
Members of the BHS Class of 1971 enjoyed a small, informal 35th reunion on July 16, 2006, in Genesee Valley Park, Rochester, NY. We had such a good time that organizer Ruth E. Thaler-Carter forgot to take photos!
History was made on December 26, 2005: For the first time since 1973, a Brighton Barons hockey team ended up a winner! In fact, everyone won when the First Annual Brighton High School Alumni Ice Hockey Game brought together four decades of players, coaches and their families in a joyous celebration of Brighton High School Ice Hockey. Adoring fans packed the house at ESL Sports Center on the campus of MCC and cheered their favorite former Barons — older, fatter, balder, slower but still recognizable — on to victory. Plans are to make this an annual event. Details: Ken Soble, (585) 955-3877, or Rob Levine, (585) 752-9690.
The BHS class of 1985 held its 20-year reunion during Thanksgiving weekend 2005. Photos and details will be posted shortly.
Members of the BHS class of 2000 enjoyed an informal get-together on November 25, 2005, at the Otter Lodge on Monroe Avenue in Brighton. Classmates interested in future gatherings may contact Lauren Zwirn (BHS '00) at Zwirn2000@aol.com or (585) 305-2914.
The recent Forties Fling was a blast for members of BHS classes of every decade of the 1940s! Photos will be posted shortly.

Class of '71
Classmate Bob Cilman, now director of the Young@Heart Chorus and executive director of the Northampton (MA) Arts Council, will be home to do the "Backtalk" presentation at the Little Theature in Rochester immediately after a showing of a new, wildly popular documentary about the chorus, on Saturday, May 10. The film opens on May 9; there also will be a special weekday matinee on Wednesday, May 14. For details, click here for a PDF about the event or go to:
www.thelittle.org
(If you can't see this film in Rochester, look for it wherever you are - it's showing in several cities around the country, and it's amazing, inspiring and just delightful! And if you can't get to the film but the chorus comes to your town, don't miss hearing them - these 60-, 70- and 80-year-olds are rockin' out!)
Classmate Brad Berk was named to the BSAA/BHS Alumni Hall of Fame last year!
Classmate John Voorhees recently was able to move into an apartment of his own in a group-home setting. Here are photos provided by his sister. If anyone would like to contact him, let Gretchen Shafer know.
Anyone who would like to commemorate our years in Brighton schools or our graduation from BHS by supporting projects of the Brighton Schools Alumni Association (BSAA) may send contributions in any amount, large or small, to BSAA, 2035 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618. Donations are tax-deductible. Please feel free to indicate whether your contribution should be earmarked for a particular project.
